You are definitely not alone in exploring this. Many people consider or seek help from mental health professionals. This is especially true when
But regardless of why you may choose to engage in therapy, we are glad you have and we want to make your experience as supported beneficial as possible.
When you engage in individual therapy, the relationship between you and your therapist is fostered in respect and trust.
Individual therapy gives a person a safe space to explore their own issues, feelings, questions, and concerns. It allows a person the opportunity to go as deep as they want and need to understand themself and how their experiences have affected them.
The time is available to develop coping strategies to help you handle difficult situations and grow as a person; help improve your communication skills; learn to make healthier life choices; and help you feel empowered in your life.
When couples and families face issues that are difficult for the to deal with on their own, they may seek support of a therapist for a neutral third party.
Unlike individual therapy, the work is not with just one person. The focus of couples and family therapy is the relationships within the family.
There are a number of benefits of couple/family therapy such as improving communication between family members; developing coping strategies among family members; finding healthy ways to be in relationship; and providing support for mental health issues and/or addictions.
Because every person is an individual and every family is unique, we understand that working just one way is not beneficial. Therefore, we draw on many different therapeutic techniques to make a personalized experience.
Tools from interventions such as family systems, solution focused, emotional release, narrative, attachment, medicine wheel, and person centred are brought together to create an appropriate and helpful intervention based on what your goals are.
We know that finding the time and means to engage in therapy can be difficult and we try our best to make it accessible for as many as possible. Therefore our practice does not require you to come to an office. We will come to you through in-home service. The counsellor will arrive at your location and when we are finished, we leave you in your own space so you can take the time you need to decompress and rest or carry on with your day.
Sometimes the distance is too great or you may find there are a lack of resources in your area or you may not be ready to engage in person. If this is the case, we can offer online therapy through a secure video link.
We utilize a video platform that is fully PHI and College compliant. All information is fully encrypted and stored on servers in Canada.
From the comfort of your home, you can engage with the therapist and continue your growth.
We can switch between these two when necessary so your healing and work is not interrupted.
As human beings we are made up of our physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual aspects of life and we need to take care of each equally.
If someone got sick and was failing physically, of course, their mind would be affected, their emotions would be affected and their spirit would be affected. If someone was dealing with their spiritual self, their physical self would be affected, mentally they would be affected, and their emotions would be affected.
The same is true of your emotional or mental self. If you are struggling in these areas you may find your physical and spiritual health being affected. Each aspect needs to depend on the other.
